Why Pinot Noir in Mugello
Famous for the production of typical Mugello wines, the Podere Fortuna of Scarperia and San Piero is located right in this splendid hilly area, in the heart of Tuscany, precisely 25 kilometers north of Florence. A huge natural amphitheater extends around the vineyard, at the foot of the southern slope of the Tuscan-Emiian Apennines.

Podere Fortuna is characterized by a particular geographical location, and is composed of 31 hectares between the valley floor of the Sieve river and the first hilly slopes, at an altitude of about 250 meters above sea level. With exposures between south-east and south-west, the company enjoys a cooler climate than the other areas of Tuscany, with a vegetative delay of about 15 days compared to Chianti, and summer temperature ranges that often reach 20 ° C. This is a sort of identity card of the Mugello wine, whose unmistakable flavor is due precisely to the environment in which it is produced.
An ancient Pinot vineyard to taste an organic Pinot wine
Mugello is an ancient territory, it even seems that it was a lake or that it was in any case submerged by the sea. It is an area rich in fruits but also in history: there are many artists who gravitated around it, including Beato Angelico, Cimabue and Giotto, but also the Medici family, who made Mugello his residence by renovating and building some of the most beautiful villas of their possessions, then making them places of aggregation for many influential figures of the time. Podere Fortuna itself, where the famous Mugello wines are produced today, was owned by the Medici family.
