Podere Fortuna: the ancient Medici cellar of organic Mugello wines

Acknowledgments
Podere Fortuna has a cellar specifically structured to have continuous and efficient quality control. Our company will soon produce 100% organic wines, as we are gradually approaching organic cultivation. Following the collection and reception of the grapes, the bunches are scrupulously checked on two sorting tables, and then proceed with the control of the grapes after destemming. This phase represents for us one of the most important points in order to always ensure a high quality of the finished product. All our Pinot ferment in conical wooden vats with controlled temperature; fermentations last from 18 to 25 days and are carried out by natural yeasts.

    The part of the steel is instead destined for the production of white and rosé with controlled temperature to avoid oxidation. Following fermentation, both Pinot Nero and Chardonnay are aged in medium toasted French oak barrels. For reds the rest period in barriques is about 12 months, while for white it is about 3 months. After aging in wood, all our wines rest in concrete for about 6 months, a practice that allows the wine to clarify naturally, thus avoiding filtration. Once bottled, our reds rest for 6 to 24 months before being able to go out on the market, a feature that allows a natural evolution in the bottle due to the fact that we use natural cork stoppers. 25000 bottles of still IGT wines, handpicked and with selection of the grape. Podere Fortuna: IGT wines

We only produce wines, and we were the first to plant Pinot Nero in Mugello. We carry out the collection and selection of the grapes by hand, and we pack about 25,000 bottles per year. All our wines are still. Here are some of the main characteristics of our company in Scarperia and San Piero: we produce IGT wines, including 3 red ones called "Coldaia", "Fortuni" and "selection 1465", a white called "Greto alla Macchia", and a rosè called "Rosé";

    from 2018 a conversion to organic is underway: therefore we will soon produce 100% organic wines made with techniques that are not harmful to man and the environment; we carry out a local and national distribution. We do not turn to the large-scale retail trade, but to the hotel and restaurant sector, through agents or agencies; we are present in "vino75" and other famous e-commerce; we produce wine, working on land that once belonged to Lorenzo the Magnificent. Since 2018, the Lowenstein family has managed the farm.
